Investment Focus
Private equity & real assets
Silk Prosperity takes equity and real-asset positions with its own capital, in situations where the business is defensible, the operational improvement is identifiable and the value-creation plan can be written down before completion.
Overview
Equity taken as a principal
Alongside our private credit activity, Silk Prosperity holds equity and real-asset positions on its own balance sheet. We are not raising or managing a fund, so position sizing, holding period and concentration are determined by the merits of each situation rather than by a portfolio construction requirement.
In practice this means a small number of holdings, each entered with a written view of what needs to change in the business, who is accountable for changing it, and what a reasonable realisation route looks like. We do not publish transaction lists, valuations or performance information on this website.
Mandate
Where we deploy equity capital
- Established companies
- Minority or control positions in businesses with a defensible market position, evidenced cash generation and an identifiable path to operational improvement.
- Real assets
- Holdings where value is anchored in physical assets or long-dated contractual rights, assessed on location, condition, tenure, use and the durability of the income they support.
- Growth and venture capital
- Earlier-stage positions in scalable businesses with clear technology or market differentiation, taken in smaller size and with a longer expected horizon.
- Selected co-investment
- Participation alongside professional, institutional or otherwise eligible counterparties in specific transactions, subject to eligibility and the relevant transaction documentation.
Criteria
What we look for
- Defensible position
- A reason the business retains its customers and pricing that does not depend on a single contract, a single relationship or a temporary market condition.
- Identifiable improvement
- Specific, nameable operational changes — pricing, procurement, capital structure, reporting, capacity utilisation — rather than a general expectation that performance will improve.
- Asset and tenure quality
- For real assets, clarity on title, tenure, permitted use, condition and the cost profile required to keep the asset in productive service.
- Alignment with management
- Governance, incentives and reporting agreed before completion, so that expectations and protections are settled at the outset rather than renegotiated under pressure.
Lifecycle
From origination to realisation
- 01
Origination
Situations are sourced directly and through the international relationships of CGPH Group Limited (USA), then screened against our sector interests and investment criteria.
- 02
Diligence
Commercial, financial, operational and legal review, supported by independent advisers where appropriate, to support an informed investment assessment.
- 03
Structuring
Consideration, governance rights, reporting obligations and protections are documented so that the roles of each party are clear from completion.
- 04
Stewardship
We work alongside management on strategy, operational priorities, international introductions and access to further capital as the business develops.
- 05
Realisation
Exit and realisation routes are considered from the beginning and reviewed as the position matures, with timing assessed against market conditions.
